Do you think the following ads are accurate in their claims?
This goes into the microwave...
Have you read the ingredients on this...
When compared to McDonald's, probably this is good...
Too bad this gets pasteurized...
Oh yes, and this one goes great on a diet...
And for my personal favorite...
As long as it's "fortified" or "enriched" it must be good...
Now back on a serious note, these ads (minus the last one) are seen everywhere we go. We're constantly being bombarded with this information, and after seeing it so often it becomes very easy to accept this as "health food." An easy rule of thumb to help you decide if something is truly good for you to eat is: "If it's proprietary stay away." Meaning, if you found it in the middle aisles in a grocery store, understand that it is not real "health food" like the packaging would suggest. If you're trying to count calories, or read the labels to check how much fat something has and what kind of fat... the best thing you can do to save you from the hassle is to eat food that doesn't have a label in the first place. You'd be much better off.
